Small Business Marketing Tips

A business associate gave me this book and I found it to be excellent for the small business owner. I cringe to think of the business I have lost by not knowing/paying attention to the details that Colin illustrates in his book. I was convicted when Colin speaks of the failure of business owners to get expert advice on marketing. His principals and tips are concise and easily accomplished. Employing only a few of his recommendations is having a dramatic impact on our bottom line. This is vitally important in this economy as the difference between success and failure is often in the "over-looked" marketing opportunities. This is a must read for every small business owner. In fact, it is a must read every 6 months!

The author speaks right to you!

Wow, I am impressed! Even though I am only at Chapter 7, I have learned so much and feel extremely confident about being able to implement the concepts introduced! The author wrote the book as if he is speaking directly to you, like a real person-to-person conversation. He doesn't make things sound too over-whelming or difficult. But rather, he encourages you and makes you feel as if you *can* do the things he is suggesting in order to improve your business. After finishing the book, I will complete my review, but: so far, so good!

One really good chapter, the others are Small Business Marketing 101

There was only one chapter that surprised me about this book and that was on how to get customers back into your business. It really is quite easy when you think about it. And it makes perfect sense. As a business owner I think that I fell into that trap of chasing new customers, but the problem is that chasing new customers is expensive marketing. This book has given me a lot to think about. Well at least that one chapter did. In all honesty I am experienced business owner that pretty much knew most of what was in this book, but that is from reading many other books. I give it 4 stars.

Puts the "aim" in ready - fire - aim

Well done! A very detailed book that gives you the A to Z on small business marketing. I just started my business and picked up this book. I know a lot about my trade, but very little about business and especially marketing and was going about this ready, fire, aim. Highly Recommended.

Best if applying a small business marketing tip a day

This is not the kind of book that you speed read and then put away on your shelf. This is more like a reference book that you can use with each chapter to apply a single tip once every day or every week.

Newbie Friendly

It has been said that in marketing, we are all beginners only one campaign or test away from the success we seek in business. The thing that I liked the most about this book is that it contains up to date tips for marketers of any level. The book is comprised of sections roughly in order of complexity. Some of the tips towards the end are a bit far fetched given the budget of most small business owners, but the chapters on digital marketing are superb.

Chock full of great business marketing tips

This book is chock full of useful information that can be used by local business owners to really get some easy marketing done for their small business. The book almost has too much information and left me hungry for more details. But if each chapter were expanded with full details, then it would probably be way too much. So this is a great primer for business owners who want to streamline their marketing. 4 stars from me. With that said, I would have easily given the book 5 stars if it had a few more examples like what was described in the chapter on the "thud factor" which was very good.
