Small businesses cope with low staffing

Mike Liautaud, founder and president of Milio’s Sandwiches. When the recession hit Milio’s, a 35-store sandwich chain in the Midwest, Liautaud told his 470 employees they would need to make sacrifices. Salaried staffers had to work three to five hours more a week.
